ENVIRONMENT & FACILITIES

Description of site and facilities
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Broken Hill Base is a working aeromedical facility located adjacent to Broken Hill Airport. It operates 24 hours a day and supports emergency aeromedical retrieval, patient transfers, and primary health services across a large area of remote NSW and surrounding regions.

The site includes operational hangars housing RFDS aircraft, administrative and operational offices, clinical and training spaces, and the Bruce Langford Visitor Centre / Outback Heritage Experience. Guided tours may include access to designated public and controlled areas, aircraft viewing within hangars (subject to operational availability), and interpretation spaces. Visitor facilities include toilets, indoor exhibition areas, and car and coach parking.

As the base is an operational workplace and airport environment, access is controlled and participants must follow RFDS staff instructions and site safety requirements at all times.

Power, water, or facility limitations
The RFDS Broken Hill Base is a permanent, fully serviced facility with mains power and water available. Public toilets are available within the visitor centre.
